FAQ

Repair. Maintenance. Service. Since 1981

Can I get my vehicle serviced at your repair facility and still keep my factory warranty?

We service most makes and models as well as use factory replacement parts installed by Bosch and ASE certified repair technicians.  Because of this, it will not void your vehicle’s warranty in any way.  By law you have the right to choose your own repair facility.

How long will I need to leave my vehicle?

For most services, you can drop the vehicle off in the AM and pick it up before close that same day.  For some situations, including the availability of parts and the size and degree of difficulty of the job can require leaving the vehicle overnight.  We always keep you informed along the way, so there will be no confusion about how long we may need your vehicle.

Can I bring my own parts?

Imported Auto uses the finest quality automotive parts and stands behind our parts with a comprehensive warranty.  If we allowed a customer to bring his or her own parts, we would not be able to offer a warranty on any of the work performed.  For that reason, it is better for everyone involved to not allow customer supplied parts.

I'm hearing a noise while driving down the road, do you know what it is?

While it may seem that we are good enough to be able to diagnose a noise over the phone or in the parking lot, most times we will need to drive the vehicle and perform a thorough inspection in order to properly determine where the noise is coming from.  Many things can cause noises, from belts screeching, to wheel bearings rumbling, to tires humming and even an engine misfiring.  Schedule an appointment to have your vehicle checked.

Do you price match?

An automotive repair has many different factors that go into determining the price of each job.  While someone may tell you that they can do a certain job “cheaper” over the phone, when you go to pick up the vehicle the price may change because of additional parts needed to finish the job.  In most cases, these people who quote a cheap price over the phone already know they will need the extra parts, but so it sounds cheaper, it isn’t mentioned until the vehicle is apart.

Can I just replace my brake pads?

While many garages may replace only the brake pads, at Imported Auto we know all too well that it will end up costing the customer more money in the long run.  If the brake rotors aren’t replaced or at the very least resurfaced, they will not last nearly as long as they are supposed to.  We prefer only to resurface certain “hard to find” rotors and most times we recommend replacement.  This will also save the customer money in the long run.

Do you scan check engine lights (CEL)?

While Autozone may lead you to believe that they know what is wrong with your vehicle as soon as you plug in a scan tool, this is simply untrue.  While the scan tool may give you an idea of what’s wrong, it will still need to be diagnosed further.  For this type of repair, it is best to plan on dropping the vehicle off for the day.

My TPMS light is on, can you fix a Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem?

For most vehicles we are able to diagnose and repair TPMS lights (tire pressure monitoring system) and reset the tire pressure to factory specs, resetting the TPMS light on your dashboard.

Do you install tires for Tire Rack?

We are an authorized installer for Tire Rack.  You can have the tires drop shipped right to us or have them sent to your house and bring them in for your appointment once it is scheduled.
